What does the Human Rights Act mean by political opinion?
Political opinion includes the lack of a particular political opinion or any political opinion.
What does the Human Rights Act say about political opinion?
It is unlawful to discriminate on the ground of political opinion in any of the prohibited areas of public life.
Exceptions
In employment (includes pre-employment and advertising):
- crew of non-New Zealand ships and aircraft
- work involving national security
- domestic work in a private household
- employment of a political nature
In accommodation:
- shared residential accommodation
