2008 marked the 60th anniversary of the apodtion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.

The declaration lays out the rights and responsibilities everyone on the globe should have.

Each year the anniversary of the Universal Declaration is marked on 10 December, Human Rights Day.

In the lead-up to Human Rights Day, the Human Rights Commission supports a range of events and activities to highlight the relevance of the Declaration in today’s world and the fundamental rights it spells out.
