Dialogue sessions / meetings with government agencies

The Commission is keen to provide opportunities for trans people to meet with government agencies about the Inquiry recommendations. These dialogue sessions are usually held in Wellington but it is possible to have a video-conference that includes trans people in Christchurch and Auckland too.

In April 2010 over 30 people attended the second national Trans Human Rights hui hosted by the Human Rights Commission in Wellington. After two days of hard work at Tapu e Ranga marae they had a full day of meetings with seven government agencies.

In May 2009 the Commission and local Wellington trans people helped to run a workshop at the Police Training College on potential issues for trans police recruits.

In 2008 the Commission organised two dialogue sessions with government agencies about search and detention of trans people. Read more here.
