Durban Network of NHRIs
The Durban network of NHRI’s is being established to share ideas and good practice between national human rights institutions on matters relating to race relations, cultural diversity and indigenous rights.
Its establishment follows the Durban Review Conference in 2009, fulfilling one of the commitments made in the Concluding statement from National Human Rights Institutions at the conference.
The network will share information on such issues as mandate, capability, national action plans, monitoring and reporting, partnerships, programmes and projects, and relationships with the Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The Human Rights Commission operates a Facebook page for the Durban Network which provides regular updates on NHRIs activities. Become a fan to receive updates as they happen. From time to time the Commission will also publish a Durban Network newsletter.
