Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council

The Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council was formed in 1993 and is “The voice of ethnic groups in Dunedin”. Its objectives include:

  • supporting and promoting the rights and responsibilities of ethnic individuals and groups
  • promoting joint action and cooperation in Dunedin on areas of concern
  • enabling ethnic groups to express their commitment and pride in New Zealand while still protecting and sharing their ethnic heritage and identity
  • promoting goodwill, tolerance and understanding among people of all cultures in Dunedin.

Multi-ethnic concert and world potluck buffet 2011

The Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council invites you to join us in a celebration of Race Relations Day 19 March 6-8pm at Space2B, 5 St. Andrew Street corner Filleul Street.

Informal Live multi-ethnic music and dance followed by an international potluck buffet. Please bring an ethnic dish to share.

Monthly meetings

Monthly social gatherings to exchange cultures, and to meet and get to know people

Networking events

Opportunities to learn new skills and links with the wider community

Ongoing projects

Working on projects such as immigration, employment, etc to assist migrants, refugees and others

Monthly citizenship ceremonies
