Hibiscus Hospice

At Hibiscus Hospice we care for the terminally ill in our community, and for people through all stages of their terminal illness. We help families support their loved ones to enable them to live as fully and as comfortably as possible.

We understand time is precious to all those touched by a terminal illness and strive to make each day count.

We recognise grief as a normal response to loss and support those who have lost a loved one as they begin a new and often difficult journey.

Project 2011
The Hidden Treasures Trail

The 2011 Hidden Treasures Trail was the fifth year Easter Hibiscus Hospice organised its three-day (April 22nd, 23rd & 24th) overland trek from Riverhead to Puhoi. The trail is endlessly fascinating, as are the places visited along the way. The Hare Krishna temple, lunch at the Buddhist temple in Wainui, the two historic churches in Wainui and Puhoi, Cathedral in Dairy Flat and high above Puhoi, the Remembering Jenni Tree.

Most of the route is over private land with great views of the Hibiscus Coast and the Hauraki Gulf. The Hidden Treasures Trail is supported by more than 20 landowners between Riverhead and Puhoi who have opened their properties in support of Hibiscus Hospice.
