Race Relations Day Festivities

A number of activities will be held throughout the month to mark the Festival of Cultures and Race Relations Day or International Day in Manawatu this year.

Festival of Cultures

The Festival will open again in 2011 with a Community Cultural Lantern Parade and concert on Friday 25 March 2011 at 6.30 p.m. This Parade will follow weeks of work and workshops around the community in order to encourage the community to get behind this still relatively new initiative for the Festival. The parade will be after dark around the Square.

This will be followed the next day on Saturday 26 March 2011 by the World Food Craft and Music Fair, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in The Square. Here you can enjoy all day local and national music and entertainment and cultural foods, crafts and culture.

Once again Manawatu Multicultural Council will have a stall at the World Food Craft and Music Fair and also present a trophy to the winner of the Best Stall competition.

 Manawatu Multicultural Council Annual Dinner

The Manawatu Multicultural Council will hold its Annual Dinner from 6.00pm on 25 November, at the Chinatown Restaurant, Cuba Street Palmerston North. This is to celebrate a successful year that we have had, to celebrate our marvellous Rugby Gold Cup, celebrate and reward our hard working volunteers, thank our on going funders/ sponsors and just to end the year on a high note and with a little bit of fun and festivity. We will have ethnic music, dance, raffles and auction and of course a four course meal to suit every palate. All backed up by our own fantastic radio personality Fraser Greig as the MC and DJ. The ‘Gold and Black’ theme is in honour of the ‘Gold Cup’ and our All Blacks.  Dress code: national costume highly encouraged preferably in Gold and Black which will add another interesting dimension and may also win some surprises.  Everyone is invited to attend with a ticket of $20.00,  though we have limited tickets,  first ones will not be disappointed.
