The Migrating Kitchen Trust

The Migrating Kitchen Trust celebrates cultural diversity. After the first Migrating Kitchen exhibition at Pataka Museum of Arts and Cultures in 2007, the curators set up the trust to carry on the work of celebrating diversity. The trustees are Judith Aitken, Anna Cottrell, Kitiona Tauira; Hui-Ping Wu and David Underwood.

It is supported by the Office of Ethnic Affairs and The Human Rights Commission.

The Trust’s primary objectives are:

  • To encourage and provide opportunities for people in Aotearoa New Zealand to showcase their culture, to celebrate their history and to share their stories in exhibitions, media and public events so that through knowledge, barriers are broken, tolerance and understanding emerge.
  • To promote public education programmes in Aotearoa New Zealand through partnership with ethnic communities living here, to celebrate racial diversity, promote tolerance and understanding, and to foster peace by showcasing festivals, families and food.
