Project 2011

Death & Diversity

Museum of Wellington City & Sea in partnership with the Office of Ethnic Affairs is developing an exhibition based on the experiences, rituals and practices of eight ethnic communities around death.

Participants in the project are from Assyrian, Mexican, Colombian, Filipino, Chinese, Jewish, Hindu and Muslim communities.

The Death & Diversity will be launched in November 2011 at the Museum of Wellington City & Sea with a theatre work developed by Voice Arts Trust.

The exhibition and accompanying series of events will be staged at the Museum of Wellington City & Sea from December 2011 until June 2012. This will include music, dance, performance, stories and lectures.

This project is supported by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand and The New Zealand Police.
