Russian Cultural Centre Trust

The Russian Cultural Centre Trust of Christchurch has been officially functioning since February 2000.

The Centre:

• provides classes for children and adults
• organises concerts, theatrical performances and festivals
• takes part in many cultural events of the city.

It generally works within the usual areas of charitable non-profit organisations.
The Centre’s main goal is to promote and preserve the Russian language and culture as well as to give everyone an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with other people in the Russian speaking Community of Christchurch.

The team at the Centre has expanded to include both teaching staff and community volunteers, working cohesively with children from 18 months up to age 16. The Centre also works with adopted Russian children who have settled with Kiwi families. English language courses are offered to adults at the Centre and are available to all people wishing to attend, including those who do not have New Zealand permanent residence. The Health and Ageing programme is designed for elderly members of the community.
