Race Relations Day 2011-Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza

Taranaki Multi-Ethnic Council is proud to present its 17th Multi-Ethnic Extravaganza on Saturday 26 March 2011 in New Plymouth.

The day starts with a colourful street parade featuring bands, floats and groups along New Plymouth’s Main Streets. The Parade starts at 10.30am from the Cnr of Gover and Gill Streets and finishes by the Clock Tower. Come and cheer on everyone.

The main Extravaganza is at Yarrow Stadium, immediately following the parade. This is one of the largest events of its kind in New Zealand and last year attracted around 8,000 people. Entry is by Gold Coin Donation at the gates.

Enjoy a mouth-watering array of ethnic foods for all tastes offered by the many food stalls located outside on the main field. This year’s delicacies includes Samoan, Korean, Fijian, Thai, Chinese, Indian and Kiwiana food to name a few!

Heaps of local and out of town Arts & Craft Stalls are on display selling their wares at the Extravaganza. There is something for everyone here from cheap treats for the kids up to beautiful hand made clothes and furniture from international artists for a special gift or maybe just for yourself. These stalls are situated both inside in the concourse and outside on the field / park.

The children are not forgotten with the ever-popular Merry – Go Round, Laser Sport and Bouncy Castles on site again. We hope children of all ages will have lots of happy fun.
