Waikato Interfaith Council

The Waikato Interfaith Council is a voluntary non-profit association of persons who collectively represent the diversity of religious and faith communities that exist within our wider society. The Council shall exist to foster mutual appreciation and good relations between these traditions and communities; to coordinate action, and/or to act, on behalf of any or all of these communities in respect of religious issues and relationships to society at large; to act in an advisory and consultative capacity to the community at large.

The Waikato Interfaith Council is made up of representatives from several Waikato religious groups including Anglicans, Baha’i, Catholics, Mormons, Hindus, Jews, Methodists, Muslims, Presbyterians, Quakers, Sikhs and Buddhists.

Anne Frank Exhibition

The Waikato Interfaith Council is supporting the Waikato museum for the Anne Frank exhibition and the public education programme which includes a thought-provoking panel and discussion evening. The panel will be presented by a group of local Jewish community members and their families. The discussion will include testimonies, family experiences, perspectives and personal reflections on the effects of the Nazi occupations, anti-Semitism and the Holocaust.

 National Interfaith Forums 2012 (planning)

The 9th Annual National Interfaith Forums, which includes both the annual Youth and Women’s Interfaith forums, will be hosted by the Waikato Interfaith Council at the University of Waikato, Hamilton on Sunday 19th & Monday 20 February 2012.   The WIFC will be having regular meetings throughout the year to plan the event. The NZ Diversity Forum

The WIFC in association with the Hamilton Multicultural Services Trust will host a community event at this year’s Diversity Forum in Hamilton.  Details of the event will be publicised when the programme is confirmed.
