Wellington Malayalee Association

The mission of Wellington Malayalee Association is based on “Servant Leadership”. The major focus of WMA will be in providing service that is within our capacity to each and everyone around us without any prejudice. The focus also includes innovative and effective leadership to spearhead our community activities with an emphasis on safeguarding our cultural heritage to pass to our next generation. It will always be a priority to keep the legacy, liveliness and majesty of our cultural heritage. Wellington Malayalee Association sincerely believes the warmth and energy we acquire by the togetherness of coming under a liberal Kerala community organisation will enhance our community as well as its members, and address our social responsibilities.

Blood Donation with NZBS

Wellington Malayalee Association together with NZ Blood services started its Donor Programme on 15 December 2009 with Mr.Dillep Mathew donating blood. A small group of 17 of our members from Kerala community in Wellington donated blood at NZBS Donor Centre in Newtown. Nicola Binns, Donor Recruiter, NZBS who has been working with WMA since we first contacted them said, its been nice to see smaller communities like you coming forward for a human cause and organisations like WMA trying to make a difference.

2011 Onam Celebration

Wellington Malayalee Association will celebrate  ONAM 2011on Saturday, 10 September from 5:30 pm at the Indian Cultural Centre Hall, 48 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie, Wellington.

There will be a cultural programme followed by Kerala vegetarian dinner
