Asia-Savvy: New Zealand Asia Conference

The Asia-Savvy Conference is a student initiative, organised under the auspices of the New Zealand Asia Institute of the University of Auckland. Our vision is to forge new links, uncover knowledge, and inspire actions in the context of the new era of NZ-Asia relations.

Through our activities we hope to help students’ unlock their potential and inspire them to work towards building a more prosperous relationship between New Zealand and Asia. Above all else, our aim is to develop students understanding and awareness towards Asia and provide them with an opportunity to be seen and heard by their Asia-Savvy peers.

Project 2012
2012 Student-led Conference

This student-led conference aims to bring together 100 current undergraduate and postgraduate Asia-savvy university students, providing an excellent forum for networking. The conference is conceived and organised by students, mainly from the University of Auckland, who care about Asia within New Zealand and about New Zealand’s future with Asia.

The 2012 conference seeks to examine the “Visions and Realities of New Zealand and Asia” with three sub-themes on Identity and Culture, New Zealand and Asia Resources and Business Opportunities. It will be a forum for debate and discussions by students, thought leaders and other stakeholders with interests in Asia, and will result in publication of a collection of student essays from the conference.
