Reduce racial discrimination and abuse

To reduce racial discrimination and abuse by means of legal education and legal assistance.

We provide legal education about racial discrimination and abuse to area schools, international students and community groups.  We advise incoming international students so that they are aware of the dangers and also the services available and the importance of reporting racist incidents.

We work closely with the Nelson Police and community groups in order to increase awareness of incidents.  We have participated in the creation of the “SpeakOut Nelson Tasman” reporting system and provide triage for online reports which are emailed t our office.

We support victims of racial abuse and or discrimination with legal information and referrals as appropriate.
