Otara Community Law Centre

The Otara Community Law Centre is a charitable Trust contracted by the Ministry of Justice to provide legal  Representation, Assistance, Advice, Information and education to meet the needs of the communities we serve that are not otherwise met as legal aid services or by other services.

Our mission:

We will help with your legal needs so as to ensure you get fair access to justice.

We will do this by providing quality legal services to those people who have insufficient means and reside within our targeted geographic communities.

The Otara Community:

The Pacific peoples ethnic group makes up 68% of Otara residents followed by 20% Maori. It has a high level of unemployment, which attributes its lowest median personal income of $19,200.00.Otara rates as a 10 in the deprivation index.

Projects 2012
Community Legal Education

The Law Centre provides tailored legal seminars to community groups at no charge to address the legal needs of the community in the Manukau region which is a melting pot of cultures and languages.

Race Relations Day 2013

To be instrumental in bringing Otara “alive” on Race relations day 2013.The goal is to o ensure the whole community celebrates the diverse cultures within the community.
