Prayas Theatre

Prayas Theatre is a non-profit organsiation endeavoring to showcase some contemporary Indian Theatre for a NZ audience – to reach out, to share and to integrate. It was formed in 2005 by a group of Indian New Zealanders who felt that awareness and appreciation of Indian culture was often limited to stereotypical compartmentalisation – mystic spirituality, exotic curries or Bollywood glamour. Prayas has since then performed ten plays to bring quality Indian theatre in English, with an increasingly diverse cast of actors.
