Rotorua Multicultural Council Inc
Rotorua Multicultural Council Inc (RMCI) formerly known as Rotorua Ethnic Council Inc was founded in 1996 and incorporated in 1998. RMCI is a non-profit organisation composed of cultural groups, associations and communities who strive to keep alive multicultural traditions in Rotorua. One of our objectives is to promote and protect the interests of the many different cultural groups which make Rotorua a multicultural city and New Zealand a multicultural society.
RMCI organises activites and events that embrace cultural diversity. The organisation celebrates Race Relations Day in March each year through social sports-football.
The council is affiliated to the New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils Inc (NZFMC). RCMI also manages the Rotorua Newcomers Network.
