Settlement Support Hutt Valley

The Hutt region has a long history of hosting the settlement of migrants and refugees. The Hutt City Council is the lead agency responsible for delivering settlement support services in the Hutt Valley. Settlement Support connects migrants with information and services available to support their settlement. Hutt Settlement Support will run orientation workshops and information sessions for new settlers living in the Hutt Valley, and networking meetings and workshops for service providers.

Information and referral service

Settlement Support New Zealand (Hutt Valley) is the first point of contact for new settlers for information about living in NZ and services available in the area.

Workshops and seminars

Hutt Settlement support organises regular workshops and seminars on different topics of everyday life in New Zealand including the NZ health system, education and driving in NZ. Hutt Settlement Support will run orientation workshops and information sessions for new settlers living in the Hutt Valley, and networking meetings and workshops for service providers.

This information pack includes information sheets covering different areas of daily life in New Zealand. It is available from the Hutt Settlement Support Office.

Race Unity Day

Race Unity Day, an event celebrating ethnic diversity in Lower Hutt City, is organised by Hutt Ethnic Council and supported by Hutt City Council. The event includes a variety of food and craft stalls, information displays and entertainment. Free admission. The date for Race Unity Day 2012 is 31 March 2011 in Lower Hutt.
