Migrants talk about the challenges of settling in and talking about their own country of origin.  People who attend are migrants migrants, locals and people who work with migrants.

Friday 30 March 12.10 – 12.50 is the first one: Nabih from Palestine will tell how his love of cooking got him involved in local community at Rotorua Arts Village, 1240 Hinemaru St, Rotorua.

The last Friday each month until October, same time, same place there will be a migrant speaker.

Celebrate Diversity, 16 November

Rotorua Settlement Support is organising a forum entitled Celebrate Diversity on Friday, 16 November from 11.50am – 2.00pm at the Committee Room 2, Rotorua District Council, 1061 Haupapa St, Rotorua.

Employers, migrants, and anyone with an interest in helping migrants settle well will benefit from attending the forum. What are the challenges for Pacific migrants settling into New Zealand? What help is available?

  • Find out about the migrant groups in our community – what they do and how you can get involved.
  • Learn how Immigration NZ is assisting migrants.
  • Share experiences, catch up and make new connections.

 Guest Speakers include members of the local migrant communities and Iani Nemani, Senior Community Liaison Adviser, Immigration NZ.
