Tenants Protection Association (Christchurch) Inc.

Tenants Protection Association (Chch) Inc is based in Christchurch. The Tenants Protection Association is involved in the development of policy and advice at national and local government levels with regards to tenancy issues, the provision of education for organisations, landlords and tenants on tenancy issues and the representation of tenants on tenancy matters.

Commitment to the Treaty

Staff are expected to understand and actively acknowledge a commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Staff are provided the opportunity to undertake training regarding better understanding and ways of working with clients with disabilities and with different cultural perspectives and backgrounds.   This includes training about the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Community Connections

TPA is a member of the Refugee and New Migrant Forum, Te Runaka ki Otautahi, a signatory with Healthy Christchurch, and attend Settlement Support events and presentations.

TPA regularly promotes universal housing design and culturally appropriate housing solutions and developments.

Support for Culture Galore

TPA regularly have a stall at Culture Galore to mark Race Relations Day.

Tenancy Education

As part of TPA’s Education Service, tenancy workshops are delivered to a wide client base including international students, youth, migrant and refugee communities, and the staff who work with those communities.
