Projects 2012
Matariki Celebration

Our centre celebrates Matariki in June (21 June 2012) every year.  The children from Victory Primary School help tell the stories connected to the legend of Matariki, we have a lantern parade on the nearby Railway Reserve, enjoy fire-dancing and drumming, and eat kai (food) together and listen to music.  Many volunteers from our families and community help make this event really special.

V5K Wairepo5K fun walk

This is an annual event with dates to be advised for 2012

We support being physically active, making time to connect with those in our neighbourhoods and having fun doing both.  So we have an annual fun run/walk which we call V5K – because V is for Victory and its about 5km.  Our Railway Reserve is next door to our centre and is about 2.5kms long.  It is a paved shared pathway which runs through trees and behind houses, has beautiful views of the city and is a much loved reserve.  There are even some sculptures along the way.  So we have a dress up event and do the run/walk together.  A time for catching up with each other, having fun dressing up, which might win a prize, and doing an energetic 5 km.

Start and finish from the Victory Community Centre.   It is an easy course that goes up the Victory Railway Reserve and back down.  It is a fun family focused event promoting getting active.
