The graph shows enrolments in early childhood education (0-4 years) compared to the population for each of five ethnic groups: European, Maori, Pacific, Asian, and other. The European group has an ECE enrolment of around 120,000 compared to a population of around 190,000. Maori rates are next highest, with an enrolment of around 31,000 as against a population of around 68,000. Pacific ECE enrolment is around 10,000 out of a population of around 32,000. Asian ECE enrolment is around 8,000 out of a population of around 19,500. For the group labelled Other, both enrolment and population are around 2,000.
