This year's Peace Walk being held at the Newton Festival this Sunday the 8th of March, in celebration of International Women’s Day, will include a speech from Race Relations Commissioner Dame Susan Devoy.
Organised by Wellington Women Walk/Work for Peace, the annual Peace Walk will include messages from Wellington Mayor Celia Wade Brown, HE Jonathan Sinclair, British High Commissioner and Dame Susan Devoy from the Human Rights Commission.
Organisers Matilde Tayawa, Belinda Bonzon-liu and Evangeline Singh are excited about this years increased community focus and multicultrual appeal and have included an array of cultural performances including: a cooking demonstration from Migrating Kitchen, musical performances from the Taikoza Drummers, a Children’s Ukulele Choir, Virtuoso Strings and Womansong and dance performances from DANZA MIA (Mujeres in Aoteaora) and the Wellington Chinese Language School Dance Group.
Assembling for the Peace Walk will commence from 10.15am in front of the International Women’s Day Stage, for a sharp 10.45am start.
