Having a voice: A conversation with Robert Martin

December 3, 2018

Today is the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities - a day to focus on the full and equal participation of disabled people. Earlier this month, Paula Tesoriero, the Disability Rights Commissioner spoke with Robert Martin MNZM to talk about his position on the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Robert was the first person with a learning disability to be elected on to a UN Committee and earlier this year he became the first person with a learning disability to chair a United Nations session. Robert and Paula talked about his own experience and his advice for others who want to get involved in advocating for disability rights.
