By Dame Susan Devoy, Race Relations Commissioner.
This week the Chair of the Royal Commission into Historical Abuse in State Care, Sir Anand Satyanand published the following letter, asking all New Zealanders to share their views on the draft Terms of Reference for the Royal Commission to define the scope and purpose of the inquiry.
Justice for those who suffered while under the care of the State must be achieved. The process to achieve that must ensure that the rights of the survivors are treated with respect, mana and humanity.
We are encouraging you, as someone who lent their voice to our call for an inquiry, to let Sir Anand know your thoughts.
