This week the 2016 National Refugee Resettlement Forum was held at Te Papa in Wellington. This years theme was 'Refugee Youth: the dual challenge-transitioning to adulthood while settling in New Zealand'
The annual forum, held over two days, was organised by the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. Approximately 200 participants from the community, government and NGO sectors were in attendance.
The Forum provides refugee resettlement stakeholders with the opportunity to actively engage on strategic refugee resettlement issues. Government agencies, non-government organisations, service providers, former refugee communities and international organisations participate in the Forum.
The three main focus areas of the governments Refugee Resettlement Strategy were Participation, Health and Wellbeing and Employment and Education.
