Disabled people

Despite some positive initiatives, the education reforms have not yet delivered a comprehensive roadmap of systems changes in order to realise ‘world class inclusive public education’ so that every child thrives at school.

The Disability Rights Commissioner is actively advocating with education policy-makers, disabled person’s organisations, educators, NGOs and family representatives for comprehensive systemic change.

This work included holding a regional summit in Palmerston North in 2019 which was well attended and very successful at generating local actions.
